RETURN TO CLIMBING DURING COVID-19
NATIONAL LOCKDOWN 2.0 ENDS 2ND DEC
Due to Manchester being in tier 3 of the local COVID alert level, you should not climb with others who are not from your household or part of your support bubble. This restriction does not apply to junior sessions which will continue as usual.
If you have a session or course that was missed due to the national lockdown, or you have a frozen membership, we will be in contact over the next few days to discuss rescheduling and unfreezing options.
MASK UP!
In light of the rise of cases across the UK, and in the hope to do our bit to help suppress the spread of COVID-19, it is compulsory to wear a face mask / covering in all areas of the centre, unless…
- on the wall climbing
- using training / gym equipment
- seated in our cafe area with food or drink
- medically exempt or aged under 11
This means whether you’re stood on the bouldering mat, or in the general climbing area, you will be required to wear your mask until the point you start to physically climb or exercise. Once you have completed your climb, you must put your face mask back on. This policy is also relevant to those booked onto an instructed session or course and those belaying or supervising.
Further to us deciding to make this move, the ABC have updated their industry standard guidelines to reflect this new Face Mask Policy.
Those exempt (aged under 11 or those with medical reasons) will not be required to wear face masks in the centre, however we do ask you to maintain social distancing throughout your stay, and respect other users in the centre.
Whilst it is not mandatory to wear a face mask on the wall, it is strongly recommended as it means you are not putting them on and off repeatedly, which best practice guidance suggests should be kept to a minimum and done with clean, sanitised hands to reduce the risk of contamination.
Please take a moment to update yourself on our below MASK UP! information video and advice:

Excellent introduction to climbing, Lewis the instructor was very calming and reassuring, made me feel at ease which is hard for someone who has never done climbing before! Excellent value for money. Will definitely be back doing the rope course. Thank you

Great place to go and try something new. The family session is a good introduction to climbing and our instructor Oli was really encouraging and helped us to push ourselves that little bit more. We did find it quite challenging but Oli encouraged us to come again and build our confidence which we hope to do. The only downside is the time you get to climb during a group session but you are able to use the bouldering areas after…

We booked a Family Climbing Induction using their website, was easy to do and nice to know you had a slot booked so no worries about arriving and it being full. We had a lovely guy called Oli giving us our induction. He was great and unbelievably patient! My daughter had a bit of a melt down at the top of a wall but Oli kept calm and talked me through how to get her down. And our 4 year…

My 9 years old daughter had a private lesson with Oli, who I found very friendly and knowledgeable but at the same time firm enough to push my daughter beyond her limits. I thought the approach was really good and I am glad my daughter managed to meet all the challenges. Most importantly, she was absolutely delighted with herself! This is a great achievement!

I was really impressed with the set up at this facility. Booking was slightly tricky as I had a 17 yr old and 15 yr old - but the staff managed to accommodate them in the same 1hr 1/2 session on Sunday morning. I just wish we lived closer as we would definitely return. Girls had a great time Many thanks

Hi, Thank you for leaving us such a lovely review! We are very grateful for every piece of feedback we receive! We pride ourselves on our staff and centre so it's great to hear they lived up to this expectation! I'll be sure to pass your comments to Oli! Hopefully we'll be seeing you a lot more!

We had a great time here today, it was my son’s first climbing session. Oli was a fantastic instructor - he was patient, professional, really experienced but most of all he made it fun. Huge thank you to him, we’ll definitely be booking again.
