Our instructors have experience of working with groups with a wide range of special needs.
Sessions can be tailored to the needs of the group and instructors have a range of techniques to include climbers of all abilities. Climbing can aid the development of co-ordination and motor skills, as well as giving individuals acheivable goals outside of the mainstream education system.
For people with some physical disabilities, our assisted hoist system is available. This is set up in our abseil tower and gives people a sense of the height and exposure that is experienced through climbing.
We are currently working on the NICAS scheme with a group of visualy impaired adults from Galloways Societ for the Blind. Galloways have transposed the NICAS handbook onto CD, and we hope this will lead to more visually impaired people achieving great things through climbing!
Manchester Climbing Centre has full wheelchair access and disabled facilities. Please get in touch with your specific requirements on 0161 230 7006.
