Climbing Wall Leading Award

Picture5aThis is a new award for 2010, which allows holders to instruct others in indoor lead climbing. The course consists of a one-day training, followed by a consolidation period and one-day assessment. To go on this course you must already hold an SPA or CWA. MCC is also a provider of these awards, so please ask if you need to do your SPA or CWA first!

The course covers elements such as group management, instructing techniques and key safety points, and aims to open up opportunities for more people to get involved in lead climbing. Manchester Climbing Centre is one of the first centres to be offering this award, though our technical advsior Ian Fenton who helped to develop the syllabus for this award.

Dates for the CWLA courses are still TBC, but watch this space for updates!

raise money for Children of Chernobyl, by abseiling of Bolton’s towering Threlfall chimney on Salop St. Bolton.
