Learn to Lead – Trad Climbing

Trad Climbing

Traditional (‘trad’) climbing is the style of climbing most widely practised in UK , in which climbers place and remove all their own safety protection. If you already have indoor or sport leading experience and fancy a go at trad, this course will introduce you to the skills necessary to start leading on single pitch trad routes.

We will cover all the basics to put you on the way to becoming a safe and competent lead climber. With a ratio of 1:2, you will receive an intensive induction to trad lead climbing (this course runs over two full days).

To attend this course you must have at least 6 months indoor or sport leading experience, and feel confident leading at least grade 5.

This course covers elements including:

Rope management

Gear selection and placement

Anchor selection and Belay construction

Guidebook interpretation and appropriate route choice

Retrieval of equipment

Course Cost: £220 per person (must be two people). Dates can be arranged to suit you, over 18’s only.
